General Information
Southcentral Alaska may experience natural gas supply constraints during periods of prolonged extreme cold. In coordination with ENSTAR Natural Gas Company, JL Properties may be requested to voluntarily reduce natural gas consumption or implement conservation measures to help maintain the reliability of the regional gas system. If a natural gas curtailment event becomes likely, ENSTAR will provide advance notice to affected customers whenever possible. JL Properties will communicate any impacts or required actions to tenants as information becomes available. ENSTAR has indicated that curtailments are typically associated with periods of sustained subzero temperatures and unusually high system demand.
Procedure:
- Building Management will monitor communications from ENSTAR and other utility providers regarding potential supply constraints.
- If a conservation alert or curtailment notice is issued, Building Management may adjust equipment operating schedules and building temperatures to reduce natural gas consumption while maintaining safe building operations.
- Tenants will be notified by email of any anticipated impacts to building operations, heating schedules, or comfort levels.
- Tenants are encouraged to reduce unnecessary energy consumption and report any significant heating concerns to the Management Office.
- If a mandatory curtailment is ordered, Building Management will implement emergency operating procedures designed to protect building systems and maintain essential services where possible.
- Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.
